Cliff Lee won his fourth game of the season this evening against the Atlanta Braves. Lee pitched a masterful outing of seven innings, allowing just five hits, walking one, and striking out five.
Lee was taken out after seven after reporting a tight hamstring. Lee later said it was not anything serious, just a cramp.
The Phillies provided plenty of offense to back up the stellar pitching. John Mayberry got it going with an RBI single to center which scored Juan Pierre in the first inning.
In the third, Jimmy Rollins launched a solo homer to right field, an estimated 349 feet. 2-0 Phils.
Juan Pierre scored again in the fifth on an RBI double slapped to deep center by Chase Utley. In the following inning, the Phils loaded up the bases for Cliff Lee who drew a walk, forcing in Laynce Nix from third.
In the same inning, Ty Wigginton grounded into a fielder's choice, which sent Kevin Frandsen home. 5-0 Phillies.
The only run from the Braves' lineup came from a solo home run off the bat of Martin Prado, who also homered last night. B.J. Rosenberg was on the mound in the eighth.
Antonio Bastardo came in after 1/3 of an inning from Rosenberg. Tony pitched a brilliant inning and 2/3 allowing one hit, but striking out four. Looks to be back in the "Old, filthy Bastardo" form once again.
Tomorrow, the Phillies will go for the series sweep in Atlanta with Cole Hamels taking the mound at 5:05.
