The best looking pitcher this spring has clearly been Adam Morgan. In 3 stints he's been pretty much unhittable. The best outfielder has clearly been Cedric Hunter. Both of these guys deserve a regular starting role until they begin to play themselves out of it. The team has little to lose and it sends the right message that if you earn the right to make the team, or even start, by your performance in competition with others than you will get it. They should be trying to find players, not have already made their mind. The LAST thing that should happen with Morgan is to make the roster as a long reliever. He needs to start every five days, whether it be with the big club or in LHV. Both Hunter and Morgan could turn out to be much better than originally expected, but the only way to find out is to give them the opportunity they've earned in open competition. That's how Victorino, Werth, Arrieta (with the Cubs), and many other players became what they did despite not being highly regarded before getting their shot. The Phillies are in the perfect position to afford to give it to deserving players like this right now. It would be a shame...and frankly, stupid, to do anything else.
