When we were putting together the team that eventually won in '08 we played both Victorino and Werth, who weren't exactly highly rated prospects, instead of trading for aging vets. Now, we have a similar type guy in Cedric Hunter, who's always hit in the minors with a high OPS and a very low strikeout rate. With Altherr's injury we have an opportunity to find out if he could be a diamond in the rough like those other two turned out to be. It's completely insane to trade for yet another aging vet instead of seeing what we have in this guy. We have nothing to lose, except possibly another potential key contributor by not giving Hunter a good chance.
